A Year In The Life of KSI 2023

As we are now in the year 2024, let’s take some time to reflect on 2023. We, as a community, have risen back from what was almost the grave. 2023 will always be a year to look back on as the time when we built KSI up from 30 members to over 700 in just 6 months.
On the 30th of January, Linden 7 proposed an idea to the community about the changes that would be coming in the following months. A meeting was held to discuss the changes, and any member present could propose ideas to better the community as a whole. A few days later, the first community event was announced. Gladiator 7 was hosting a MW2 tournament. The winners would get an exclusive role, “X Marks The Spot.” This event took place on the 11th of February.
Nearly a month went by, and on the 22nd of February, the age limit to join the community was raised from 16 to 17. Anyone aged 16 who joined before the change was grandfathered in and could stay. After another quiet month, on March 28th, another change was added to the Code of Conduct. The rank structure for KSI was revamped to the current structure that we use today.
On June 8th, Gladiator 7 made it clear that KSI had experienced some rough months going into 2023. Based on that, it was announced that the first squad split would happen at 150+ members. CMS was made automatic and easier for officers to update the data. A few weeks later, Katana 7 was proudly promoted to Director of Gaming Operations, and Vik 7 was promoted to Manager.
On July 31st, After some heavy consideration and fights, it was concluded that a new division would be born for a rebuild. With that, Chaos Remnants was born! Three new squads were also born–Dreadnought CR, Kyber CR, and Nemesis CR.
One month later, Anatomy 7 was promoted to Director of Digital Services. Following the promotion, Ana started making moves on Social Media, expanding our reach for the audiences on Twitch, Twitter (X), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. A few days went by, and the policy for Clan Ops was updated. These updates included raising the age limit for KSI to 18. Anyone who was 17 prior to the change was grandfathered in.
On September 17th, Rewster split Dreadnought CR to create Requiem CR! This was the first squad split coming from the new division. Following the split, Achilles 7 and DC 7 were promoted to Squad Leader. With that, Rewster 7 became Co-Founder of CR! The next day, Katana 7 was promoted to Executive Director of KSI, and Vik 7 was promoted to Director of Clan Operations! On that same day, Digital Services was really taking off, and so Asuna 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Digital Services.
On September 22nd Frosty 7DS was promoted to Founder of CR! A few days went by, and Frosty 7DS was promoted again to Director of Community Resources! On September 27th, Hero announced the first Divisional Squad Battles! This was a huge step in the building of the new KSI. A couple of days later, we saw the first squad battle take place with Dreadnought vs. Requiem. Dreadnought took the 1st place win and would have a straight shot to the Finals!
On October 8th, KSI had a huge wave of promotions, including DCrunk 77 to Co-Founder, Sevenaro to Squad Leader of Dreadnought, Asuna 7 to Squad Leader of Leviathan, KitKat to Squad Leader of Kyber, Sungazer to Squad Leader of Haven, and Anarchy to Squad Leader of Requiem. A couple of days later, Ravenski 7 was selected to be the Executive Clerk for KSI!
On the 14th of October, the second squad battle took place with Nemesis vs. Kyber. Nemesis took the victory and earned a spot in the finals! That same day, Nemesis split to create a new squad, Paradox, under the leadership of NewBlue. A few days later, Heroism 7, Dakeech, Anatomy 7, DCrunk 77, Rewster 7, Perm, and Marz were all given Outstanding Service awards by Linden 7.
On October 22nd, Linden 7 announced that Holden 7 would be stepping down from Operations Director. After several conversations, he made this decision so that he could focus on his personal life while supporting KSI as a member of the Haven squad. We thank Holden for his support over the years, and want him to know that he will always have a home here in KSI! Shortly after that, Katana 7 announced that the Code of Conduct would be changing. Multi-clanning would no longer be allowed, and one article was added. “A KSI Member Never Leaves Another KSI Member Behind.”
On November 5th, Nemesis was victorious over Dreadnought in the 2023 Squad Battle Finals. On November 15th, The Hall Of Fame 2023 was live-streamed. Rewster 7, Asuna 7, and Cheddar 7 were all given Silver Outstanding Service awards. The same night, Katana 7 was given the Gold Outstanding Service award. Term_1028, ZeroXMCF, and NewBlue were awarded their 7s. Lastly, congratulations to Frosty 7DS, REAPER 7, and BlazZze 7 who were inducted into the KSI Hall of Fame!
One day later, Paradox split to create a new squad, Catalyst, under the Leadership of M3diik 7, and Chicago 7. Five days later, Frosty 7DS stepped down from Director of Community Services, and Rewster 7 took his place. I would like to announce that with all the great work Frosty 7DS has put into the CS department, he will be stepping down from Director of Community Services in order to focus his time on his role as Division Leader of CR in clan ops. We will all miss Frosty 7DS in this role. He will be passing the torch to his deputy to take the reins of the department. We would like to take the time to congratulate the new Director of Community Services, DCrunk 77. DCrunk 77 has been doing a great job as the deputy, and is ready to take on the role of director. Congratulations DCrunk 77 on your promotion. We are excited to see what you will accomplish within the CS department!
On November 18th, Frosty 7DS was promoted to Division Leader of Chaos Remnants, and Rewster 7 was promoted to Founder of Chaos Remnants.
On November 27th, Desert 7 revamped the mod team. He appointed a Deputy Director of Technology, promoted Sophrosyne 7 to Head Moderator, and added five new moderators to the team. The next day, Vik 7 was promoted from Director of Clan Operations to Operations Director.
On December 3rd, Anatomy 7 revamped the Digital Service leadership structure. Term 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Digital Services. NewBlue 7 was promoted to the newly created position of News Team Manager. This role oversees the News Team, Graphics Team, and Social Media Team. Soap 7 was promoted to Content Creations Supervisor.
On December 15th, Cheddar 7 stepped down from El Jefe. Cheddar has spent years in KSI and has dedicated countless hours to supporting the community and its forward progression, often leading the charge, and sometimes managing logistics from behind the scenes. The same day, KSI faced ZGN in a CDL Tournament where KSI took the overpowering victory with 3-0.
Also in December, Frosty 7DS announced Paradox and Catalyst squads would be splitting to create Aether and Valhalla. Rewster 7 was subsequently promoted to Co Division Leader, and DCrunk 77 was promoted to Founder. These guys have come into KSI and really left their mark. They have built and managed CR and created a culture that frankly, I can’t picture anywhere else. Without Rewster 7 and DCrunk 77, KSI wouldn’t be the KSI we all know and love today.
On December 18th, Dreadnought split and Banshee was born with yours truly, Future 7, at the helm. On December 26th, Anatomy 7 announced that the KSI TikTok page was officially created. (Make sure to follow @KSIGlobal7.) On the same day, Requiem split to create Theria with Heroism 7 as Co Founder.
On December 30th, the entire Executive Staff was rearranged. Raze Drake was promoted to Director of Community Affairs, Crusader 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Community Affairs, Uppish 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Community Services, Chicago 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Web Operations, Rewster 7 was promoted to Deputy Director of Clan Operations.
Community Affairs, which came out of Community Services, is focused on internal issues, verification and member discipline. The following teams are under the department:
-Mentorship (Internal Auditing)
-7DS (Verification)
-Courts (Member Discipline)
Web Operations is a renaming of the Technology Department, and consolidating all web assets related to teams under them. The teams are as follows:
-Moderation
-Website/CMS
-Wikipedia
-Analytics
Community Services is retaining AAP and Events. They will also be adding Marketing in the near future!
Just when you thought the year was over, Chaos Remnants split the division to create Endless Onslaught. This event marks the first true split since 2019 when Fatal Genesis split to make Infinite Reality.
The things that happened in 2023 are just the beginnings of what KSI has done, and will do in the future. All KSI needed was a spark of motivation, and the community was set aflame with activity.
( @KSI Member This article was very fun to make. Looking back at 2023 only to realize that the majority of the interactions happened towards the last 6 months. With that being said. This community wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for each and every single person here today. )
