Electronic Arts has officially come out and announced that it has more than 6 titles in developmen t for the Wii console. Only 6 games were named for the Nintendo platform, with other in developmen t still to come. This may be a positive sign that the Wii will have far better third- party support than the GameCube, or any other Nintendo console. These "custom- designed" Wii games will be new releases from the following EA franchises : Madden NFL, Need for Speed, Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, SSX and The Godfather.
Accordin g to the publisher of EA, "Each title will remain true to the hallmarks of its franchise but is being designed to maximize the power of the Wii hardware and take full advantage of the uniqueness and innovation of its one-of-a- kind controller ." Which promises to make the Wii experience , that much better for the games.
Wh ile EA was there from day one for the launch of the Xbox 360 and will likely do the same for the PlayStatio n 3 this fall, release dates were not issued for the Wii titles. But one of my favorite games is scheduled to be released with the Wii, Madden. "Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation . Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunit y afforded by both the hardware and controller . By reaching into our catalogue, we are able to bring a fresh and distinctiv e experience to some of EA's most popular franchises . Creatively , the game play possibilit ies are staggering and endless," said John Schappert, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EA games.
