The Journey to Splitting and Growth
Squad splits in a dynamic and thriving community mark moments of growth, challenge, and new leadership. Recently, the squad Catacombs split to create Mordor successfully, creating an exciting new chapter for their members. Krista, who played a key role in the transition, emphasized the importance of building strong relationships, stating, "We had time to build on intrasquad relationships, and it's what carried us to the split." Similarly, Moon13Pie described the journey as an adventure with both highs and lows, noting how teamwork helped balance strengths and weaknesses, “The road to splitting I would say was an adventurous one, it had better days and had worse days, but we did our best as a team and worked through any problems we had. As for myself, it was about the same, there are areas that I’m not the best in and others I exceed in, it did help with the team we had because we were able to play off of each other’s weaknesses and strengths.” Kholdharted, instrumental in guiding the transition, praised the support of their officer core, saying, "The two Senior Officers I picked to move up as Squad Leaders were so much help. They were always helping brainstorm ideas on how to bring in new members and maintain our activity."
Post-split, the leaders continue to focus on engagement and growth. Krista shared, "Mordor has quickly adapted to the changes, and we are thriving." Moon13Pie acknowledged the stress but credited strong leadership for making the transition smoother. Looking forward, maintaining engagement, and preparing for future growth remain key challenges. Krista joked about wanting to name a squad of "Po-tay-toes" but affirmed their dedication to fostering relationships within the squad. Kholdharted Cofo admitted stepping outside their comfort zone was a challenge but expressed confidence in both squads' futures, stating, "I expect nothing but great things out of both squads." With a strong foundation and clear goals, Catacombs and Mordor are set to flourish in this new chapter.
