Article:Hall of Fame Committee Regroups for Class of 2025 Inductions
Article
Nearing the end of each year, a group of the most influential KSI leaders of the past and present come together to look over nominations for the year’s KSI Hall of Fame class. In today’s interview, I’ll be meeting with 3 of the 2025 Committee members to get an inside look at the selection process!
Besides the minimum requirements, such as membership for one year and 7s status, what are you looking for in a potential Hall of Fame Inductee
KSI Rewster 7: I’m looking for someone who has influenced KSI positively over multiple areas, such as departments or divisions. Someone integral to said areas, and odds are that the area influenced by them would not see the level of success without them. This needs to be someone who was not only of utmost importance to the success of the clan, but whose success has trickled down to those that they mentor, thus leaving a lasting legacy or carrying on the torch, so to speak.
KSI Cali 7: The HOF is a collection of achievements. Having a 1-year minimum sometimes makes it hard to look at a resume in the process. So, we have to weigh on other areas. How have they impacted KSI? It could be socially, they were instrumental in a rebuild, or their departmental work was invaluable. Every era of this clan has its heroes, determining what makes them heroes is our process in someone entering the HOF.
KSI Frosty 7: In a community like KSI, in a sense, anyone can become a squad leader or even a co-founder without much skill required. That is why we grant the 7 upon reaching Founder, showing you indeed put the work in. Being a part of the Hall of Fame Committee, I look for someone who has done something that sticks out from the rest or someone who has dedicated time to our community. Last year, we inducted KSI N3XUS 7 into the Hall of Fame for his contributions of creating the KSI Discord for which we use now as our main platform of operations. Also, someone whose work has spread and influenced others is another quality I look for.
How can members and leaders alike know that the committee operates fairly and without bias? What checks and balances exist to ensure nominees aren't victims of favoritism or unfair influence?
KSI Rewster 7: Raze Drake, the committee chair, is not a voting member of the committee, nor is Viktory (data and fact checker), and Linden oversees the entire clan. Those are three people known for their factual analysis, who have the ability to check, discipline, and effectively overrule clear cases of bias that contradict factual decision-making.
KSI Cali 7: We’re a large panel that’s gotten even larger this year. Every one of us has different experiences in different areas of KSI, past and present. Our process doesn’t rely on the name of the person or the relationship we have with them. It’s all just body of work, impact, and achievements. Friendship can’t overcome facts. Add, some of us had harder roads to HOF, so we see induction as something that would insult our place in the HOF if someone simply skated in on friendship or favoritism.
Rewster, you were inducted last year as part of the Hall of Fame Class of 2024. When evaluating this year’s nominees, which past Hall of Fame members set the standard you compare them to?
KSI Rewster 7: I look at people like Cali, Reaper, and Game. I modeled my run after bits and pieces of these guys. The tenacity to take lick after lick from the powers that be and then to consistently answer the call for rebuilding, culture shifts, and mentoring the next generation. These guys did this in a broad sense across both clan ops and departments. The longing to make a difference despite circumstances and to demonstrate resilience is what many of us, former and future Hall of Famers, all will have in common.
Cali, can you walk us through what the process looks like for a member who is nominated from beginning to end?
KSI Cali 7: It starts with nomination, a member, leader, or even one of us, suggests someone we feel should be evaluated for the honor. Then we deliberate as a committee to discuss any accolades or impact in the community. Everyone is considered, so there isn’t a nomination that doesn’t result in a discussion. From there, we vote based on the facts at hand, who deserves that honor
Frosty, you're now serving your second consecutive year on the committee. What advice do you have for leaders who are looking to leave their mark on the community and make it into the Hall of Fame?
KSI Frosty 7: My advice for leaders who are looking to leave their mark is pretty simple. Strive to be better every day, surround yourself with individuals who will hold you accountable and push you, and always do honest work. I tell people a lot, head-down mentality, block out the noise, set small goals for yourself. In a place like KSI, you have the opportunity to be a Peyton Manning or a JaMarcus Russell. It’s up to you on how far you take yourself!
Thank you to Cali, Frosty, and Rewster for their time and for helping us to understand some of the back end on the Hall of Fame selection process!
Remember that HoF nominations are open now until December 6th! The minimum requirements for someone to be considered are the following
- Minimum of 1 year in KSI (does not have to be continuous)
- Attained what is considered "Senior Leadership" in KSI (This one has lead way, but the reason must be above beyond what you would imagine above and beyond is)
- Has earned their 7
- Has made that noticeable difference in the Community
Use the /hofnom command in any channel in the server to submit your nominations!
