It has been discovered, quite easily, that everyone has recieved a message from X-Box Live informing you of a 28-hour downtime period. They haven't told you why. When X-Box Live comes back on, your going to notice a slight change. To do this, visit your dashboard on Tuesday. Also, the xbox.com forums and My Xbox area will also be shut down for a redo and Re-Release. This Tuesday the Dashboard for the Xbox 360 will be avalible for general use.

Here is an interview with Clinton Fowler, the Program Manager of My Xbox. This interview was conducted by TriXie and is property of www.xbox.com.

TriXie: Clinton, before we get into all the cool stuff that we'll be able to do with My Xbox, tell us what we can do to get ready for this.

Your Passport to My Xbox

Clinton: First off, if you've already got your gamertag linked to a .NET Passport, you're golden. You'll be able to access your current Xbox Live account the minute you get your Xbox 360 online just by signing in with your Passport, and then you'll be able to hit Xbox.com and see your gamer card, your Friends List, and your achievements.

TriXie: Cool, but what if I've been a bad little monkey and haven't gotten around to linking my gamertag yet? Am I hosed?

Clinton: Well, YOU might be hosed, Trix, but the rest of the Xbox Live community are still in great shape. When the My Xbox features come alive the last week of October, folks will easily be able to create a gamer card and sign in to My Xbox. (Note: Old guy flirting with young journalist)

TriXie: I can just sign in to My Xbox and see my friends and achievements and everything?

Clinton: You'll be able to see all your stuff with the exception of achievements. You won't have any yet until you get your Xbox 360.

TriXie: Let's get into what exactly we'll be doing and seeing with My Xbox. Take us on a tour, Tonic.

Your Gamer Profile

Your Gamer Profile on Xbox 360

Clinton: This is what my gamer profile looks like in the Xbox 360 Dashboard. Up there in the right-hand corner is my gamer card. I've got three stars out of five for my reputation, my gamerscore is 70, and my Xbox Live Gamer Zone is Pro.

TriXie: What's that "My X80x Rocks" thing?

Clinton: It's my gamer motto. Now check this out. This is what you'll see on the My Gamer Card page on Xbox.com.

Gamer Profile on Xbox.com

TriXie: There's your gamer card, and your recently played games.

Clinton: Yep, it's the same card, same stats, right from the console to the web. If I go in and edit my profile—swap in a new motto or change my Gamer Zone—the next time I get on my console, the changes will be there. Now let's go back to the Xbox 360 and check on my achievements.

Your Xbox 360 Achievements

Achievements on Xbox 360

Clinton: Here in the Xbox 360 Dashboard I can see all the games I've played and how many achievements I've earned for each.

TriXie: Nice. You're way further in Perfect Dark Zero™ than I am. Let's see your Hexic™ HD stats.

Clinton: Sure.

Clinton: Here are my Hexic achievements. I've got Star Gazer, Flower Child, and Cluster Buster. Now let me show you how this translates on the Web.

Here are my recently played games, and if I drill down further …

Hexic HD Achievements on Xbox.com

Clinton: There they are.

TriXie: I love how you can see exactly when you earned each achievement.

Clinton: Yeah, it settles arguments with gaming friends very quickly. Let me show you the ultimate way to settle the "who's a better gamer" question.

Your Friends

Friends List on Xbox 360

Clinton: Here's what my Friends List looks like on the console … and here's how it appears on the My Friends page on Xbox.com.

Friends List on Xbox.com

TriXie: Wow, you can see that Hiro Protagonist is playing Survival Mode and even what his score is. That's very cool.

Clinton: Yeah, that's one of the enhanced features for Xbox 360. Say Major Nelson was on his Xbox playing Halo® 2. I could see what he was playing, but not the detailed information you're going to get for the Xbox 360 games.

TriXie: Can you bring up Hiro's gamer card?

Clinton: Of course. Check this out.

Gamer profile on Xbox.com

Clinton: Here's Hiro Protag's gamer profile. I can see what his favorite games are, which genres he prefers, what he's playing, his online status, and his most recent achievements. Now let me show you the coolest part of My Xbox.

Compare Achievements

Clinton: I can compare my achievements with Hiro Protagonist's on my Xbox 360.

Clinton: And here it is on Xbox.com. There are all my games and gamerscores. Now check this out …

Clinton: Here you can see how my achievements stack up side-by-side with Hiro Protagonist's.

TriXie: Aha, you have the Star Gazer and he doesn't. That's why his gamerscore is five points lower than yours.

Clinton: Yep, and you can bet he's gonna work hard to earn that one.

TriXie: Hey, there's your gamer card up in the corner.

Share Your Gamer card

Clinton: Yep, as long as you're signed into My Xbox, you'll see that on every page of Xbox.com. There are actually a lot of cool things you can do with your gamer card.

Gamer card in MSN Spaces

Gamer card in Xbox forums

Clinton: Once you've created your gamer card, we give you all kinds of ways to show it off. It'll appear next to all of your posts in the forums, plus you can pop it into your personal Web page or blog, and even display it on your active Windows® desktop.

TriXie: Very cool! I heard a rumor that we'll be able to get some cool Xbox® functionality with MSN Spaces.

Clinton: That's true. When the new version of MSN Spaces launches—around the time Xbox 360 hits store shelves—you'll be able to use Xbox 360 themes on your Space, plus drop in new Xbox modules like your gamer card and your games list.

TriXie: Wow, you guys have thought of everything. I can't wait to get my hands on all these great My Xbox features! Thanks Clinton.

Curtains have been pulled down around the so called "philosopher's stone" of upgrades.

My Xbox will be an area where you can compare your achievments (*note Only with Xbox 360 games), see the firends you've added (in fine detail) and see the games you have played.

The process of moving to Xbox 360 has begun with a heart-racer and I expect it will be just one of the many delightful upgrades to come up soon.

Downtime is expected to last no more then 28 hours. I dont know the exact time, but I think its from 0200 GMT 10-24-2005 to 0600 10-25-2005. KSI Chiefaus 7 out.
