Alongside Kyber and Dreadnought, Nemesis is one of the original three squads created in the tri-split of Final Judgement, the squad less division. Amazingly, all three of these squads have managed to remain active to this day! Today, I’d like to tell the story of Nemesis, from its proudest moments to the ones less savory.
Final Judgement was the only Division remaining in KSI when a large number of leaders returned from retirement to build the community into what it is today. I’ll try to avoid the nitty-gritty because there’s a fantastic article on the KSI Wiki named “2023 Rebuild” that covers those details. Initially, the division was supposed to split into two squads, but after discussions with KSI Frosty 7, leadership decided to give me my own squad. I had built relationships with several high-potential recruits and returning members such as KSI xKing, KSI DC 77 (who somehow ended up in Dreadnought?!), and CherryOnTwitch, and also brought in returning officers like KSI QUEEN K and KSI DarkSora. With that foundation, it was clear I could easily kickstart my own area. King, Cherry, DarkSora, and I all played Apex Legends religiously, so we decided quickly that our squad would be an Apex squad. With that in mind, it was time to pick a squad name. We decided on the four-round burst energy weapon from Apex, the Nemesis.
To ensure squads would survive, the member count requirement for squad splits back then was 100. Nemesis had a pretty easy time growing up to around eighty members before stalling out. It had become apparent to everyone that growing a game with a built-in three-player squad queue was increasingly difficult. KSI xKing, who was my right-hand man, and I began getting into arguments pretty consistently, resulting in him requesting to transfer several times. Every time he requested, he was convinced to stay by the div staff. One time, KSI Viktory 7 even pulled King and me into a call where he discussed potentially swapping King to Squad Leader and me down to Senior Officer (in which I was quite offended and dismissed the idea entirely). Eventually, KSI Rewster 7 was appointed to be Co-Founder over Nemesis and helped us decide to build as a half-Apex and half-CoD squad. Soon after that, the recruits started coming in quickly, and we were finally able to split to create Paradox CR after seventy-seven days. Huge shoutout to our first split officer corps: KSI xKing, KSI QUEEN K, KSI Mess 7, KSI Cali 7, KSI M3diiK 7, KSI Attitude, KSIBlurryTTV, KSI GunjiHD, Debt Kollector, and KSI Pixie 7!
Pretty much instantly after the split, Squad Leader KSI QUEEN K lost almost her entire officer corps. It was a grind until September 24th, when KSI DirtyHeathen 7 and the Dirty Boys were all poached from KSI.org by yours truly. Over the following three months or so, the squad slowly made progress with the officer staff being Heathen, Debt Kollecter, and KSI BIGKREST. Prior to the division split, I was demoted from Co-Founder to Officer due to conflicts with fellow divisional staff. As a result, KSI Chicago 7 was appointed Co-Founder over Nemesis and, on the same day, demoted QUEEN K from Squad Leader to Member for not growing the squad quickly enough despite measurable growth. Although everything ultimately worked out, with QUEEN K later becoming a Division Leader and Heathen, Director, it was frustrating at the time to see two of the founding leaders of Nemesis demoted simultaneously while the squad was growing.
Under Heathen, Nemesis was able to grow and split in fifty-two days (119 days since the Paradox split), with the Officer Staff being KSI AIRMAX 7, KSI New Blue 7, KSI MsNaughty 7, starrdusted, Chef Cos, KSI Sandman, KSI QUEEN K, DirtyBilly, DirtySoap62, and TillDeath. After some convincing, I agreed to rank up once again, and Xtinction CR was created. Airmax was promoted to Squad Leader of Nemesis. Chaos Remnants split on March 30th, 2024, to create Eternal Torment. Paradox would end up staying in CR, while Xtinction and Nemesis moved to ET.
Only eighty-four days after the Xtinction split, on May 4th, 2024, Airmax was able to split Nemesis once again to create Immortals ET with KSI Vexos and Chef Cos being promoted to Squad Leader of Immortals and Nemesis, respectively. KSI TheFuryan, KSI DPownall, MommyFreya, KSI Cook, KSI Evolution_X, KSI Samurai, MilkPandanator, and KSI-INFERNO420 were the rest of the officer corps for the split.
The following section was written by KSI Chef Cos 7.
“I took over Nemesis squad and wanted to lead it in a different direction, focusing on getting to know my squad as a whole. My direction and knowledge from learning from my former div staff, such as Heathen, Airmax, and New Blue, was all about slow and steady when growing the squad and really getting to know my staff so that when they recruit, they can know how to communicate with the new members on a simpler and deeper level. Being active and always supportive of new ideas and not afraid to try new games or just listen to my members is what helped me really grow the squad and take it to new heights, just as when I was recruited. Being brought into game nights and being forced to step out of my comfort zone is what gave me the confidence to go up in ranks, as I never wanted to when I first joined.
It took about two and a half months to grow the squad and get it ready to split again. I was then promoted early, as KSI Vexos was unfortunately removed from the community, leaving VH in a position where they needed more leadership. Since the squad was getting ready to split, Airmax and Heathen brought me up early to help with other squads who could use my leadership style. Sassy Kitten was given the squad to continue to grow it and help it split using the same formula that I had initiated, and it would be a proven recipe for success even when I was promoted to run my own Division.”
On July 23, 2024, Nemesis split to create Thyra VH under the leadership of KSI Airmax 7 as Co-Founder, KSI SassyKitten as Squad Leader, and KSI Cook and KSI SSSpirit as Senior Officers; a testament to how well Chef Cos built Nemesis before his sudden promotion. Although she was only the Squad Leader for thirteen days, Sassy was promoted to Co-Founder, and KSI Cook took over. Other assisting Officer staff included MommyFreya, MilkPandanator, KSI Samurai, KSI Wolverine, KSI FatNinja, KSI Gunslinger, and KSI-INFERNO420.
KSI Cook initially had a semi-rough time building, but found his stride after a few key promotions like KSI Storm, KSI Raine, and KSI Wolverine. After 138 days, on December 7th, the squad split once again to create Jormungandr VH. KSI Storm was promoted to Squad Leader of Nemesis, and KSI Amaterasu to Squad Leader of Jormungandr, along with KSI Skorpa, KSI Samurai, KSI TheHammer, QueenNymphy, and KSI B. KSI Skyz, KSI DaKeech, and KSI MilkPandanator stayed behind in Nemesis.
When I returned to Nemesis ET on March 20th, 2025, KSI Storm was only three days away from splitting the squad for the sixth time! The vibes were great, the chats were active, and the officers were excited. The team was KSI Storm as Squad Leader, xSuprem3, KSI GAY KITTEN (yes, this was a real person), dark_angel, and KSI DaKeech as Senior Officers, and KSI Snack, Plastic_Tremor4, KSI-JiggleM3Nutz (what the hell was with the names in this era?), SwiftAmbush, Bastetxx, Duckysirr, and THE_GRINCH_615 as Officers.
xSuprem3 succeeded Storm and displayed an absolute masterclass in building a squad. He was in voice chats all the time and had a family-like connection with his staff. His tenure, however, was short and sweet… xSuprem3 would ultimately become the first Nemesis Squad Leader among the eight before him not to at least become a Co-Founder. Why? Well, both sides tell a different story. xSupreme was demoted to Member on June 12th. According to him, it was for providing advice and suggestions to his div staff. According to them, he was disrespectful. From his perspective, he had every right to express how he felt. After hourly arguments from Members and Officers of the squad against the div staff, they stood by their demotion. The following days would end up being the darkest Nemesis has ever seen. Members and Officers would randomly blow up at div staff, specifically Storm, throughout the day until they left or were removed. Several days later, KSI Storm would make the unconventional call to assign KSI Raine, the Squad Leader of Valkyrie ET, to also be the SL of Nemesis after she volunteered herself to do so.
KSI Raine said this to me regarding her time as Nemesis’ Squad Leader,
“I made the proposition, and my Division Staff reviewed my proposal and made the decision to approve it. Although I was an SL of two squads, a Web Operations Team Leader, and a Community Moderator, I still put in the same amount of work across the board because I care for the community. While being the Squad Leader of both Valkyrie and Nemesis, I began to rebuild and implement things that were having positive effects in Valkyrie into Nemesis to not only help rebuild the core but the squad as a whole. Within the rebuild of Nemesis, it needed more staff, which is when Cook volunteered to help me in Nemesis. It was approved, and when it was approved, I had suggested that Cook be made the Squad Leader of Nemesis once again, given his successful tenure previously. This suggestion resulted in Cook becoming the Squad Leader of Nemesis again, and he continued to build and grow the squad before his departure.”
The same week, I had transferred out to Catacombs RO alongside KSI Mochi, who was an Officer in Nemesis. What happened next was equal parts predictable and cringeworthy. A month and a half after Cook took over, on August 16th, the Eternal Torment Division Staff began departing to create a split-off group, ETL. Cook planned on “locking the doors to Nemesis and waiting out the storm” (He mentioned to me that the pun was only somewhat intended). Only three days after that, Cook ended up leaving KSI to join ETL.
The next two days can be told by many people in many different ways. KSI NYX 7 apparently told fellow Clan Operations Leaders that she was planning on shutting down Nemesis. While nobody can corroborate this, fellow leaders may have simply missed it. To avoid rehashing the semantics of what exactly happened, I will only tell what we definitely know. On August 20th, I saw that the squad shutdown request was posted in the KSI Global Operations Discord Server. I immediately texted KSI Rewster 7 to complain, but to my surprise, he told me, “I’ll overturn that hold on”. About an hour later, it was up to KSI LOTUS 7 to decide if she wanted to take in an entire squad of forty people with no staff in it. Within two hours, Nemesis had successfully become a squad in Rogue Operations. KSI Mochi and I would transfer out from Catacombs back home to Nemesis, where we were promoted to Squad Leader and Senior Officer, respectively.
And with that, we are in the modern day. Nemesis has continued to build in Rogue Operations. Here is a quote from the current Squad Leader, KSI Mochi,
“The story of Nemesis is still being written, its ending nowhere in sight. Over the past six months, since the squad’s “successful” transfer into RO, I, Matcha, Lonely, New Blue, and a handful of passing souls were entrusted with breathing life back into the husk of what was once a glorious squad. As time moved forward and our roster shifted, one truth remained constant: through the collective effort of those mentioned, Nemesis was reborn into a squad defined by friendship, camaraderie, and integrity. Perhaps our current state isn't a full eclipse of its former glory, but the story has yet to end, and many more glorious tales will emerge from our beloved squad.”
