After much hard work and dedication from its members and leaders, Mjolnir Squad has split!!
Here’s what Nightwave had to say when we spoke in regard to the challenges, they faced leading up to split, “The road to splitting was not a paved one. We had our ups and downs, differences, arguments, etc. but that's what being a team is. You're going to have some moments where you want to quit, but as long as you persevere and keep going, you'll thrive and enjoy your time here. Since the split, it's been a rocky road. Some weeks, we'll bust out 10+ recruits. Other weeks we'll be trying to get activity up within our squad chat. Currently, we're working on outreaching to our members to get them more involved with Imperial and making sure our retention doesn't go down the drain. Challenges that might lie ahead would be: Not everyone may like you, but that doesn't matter when it comes to the squad you were put over to run. Sometimes you want to quit, and you got to keep your head in the game. Utilize your div staff and you'll see you won't have to do most of the work by yourself. Even with my staff team I have now; as much as I want to give up, I can't. There's a whole squad counting on me. No matter how tough the going gets, perseverance is always the key. My goals as of today are to boost activity within Imperial, trying to branch out to more games for game nights, make the squad a more welcoming environment for everyone, and help those interested people with whatever questions they have about moving up/promotions.”
Second, I visit with Tupac to get his viewpoint on what the road to splitting the squad was like.
My road to a split was a different one, I say it's different because, When I joined KSI it was a month after my best friend in the whole world moved away with his gf, and 2 weeks after my dad died. I was in a time in my life where I felt lonely and sad and needed to fill a void and I just so happened to be scrolling through GamerLink just trying to make a friend and I met Mau. Once I got recruited, I got a welcome message then I kind of just went on my way. With not knowing anyone or anything really about what's going on I began jumping around channels and I stumbled into a VC with ET CoFo Astro, and they were doing a squad meeting and me not knowing who or what the hell was going on Astro let me stay for their meeting and even asked for my input and about me while I was there, and to be honest that was the moment that grabbed me and was like "okay, this is nice I think this will go well. After that I met DP, and we talked for a bit and got to know each other, and I got promoted to CDT like day 2. Shortly after like a week after I'm getting promoted to Officer and became the glue that held Helheim together, and then...DEMON TIME BEGAN. Once I hit Officer I really decided and figured out who my identity was in KSI and after that it started with a goal to have my 7 by my 18-month mark in the community. I then got promoted to SO and this was honestly the hardest part of my journey, the waiting game. Right as I promoted to SO Helheim was getting ready to split and I was staying with Helheim. We rebuilt and got stuff back up and then we hit a div split. Honestly the div split was a tough time for me because I became a moderator 2 days before our split and we lost a bunch of folks during that timeline, so I got discouraged and had my doubts. But through the trust and guidance of Chef my DL I kept faith in the mission and low and behold 6 weeks later I made a big push for us to split and had div staffs undying support, WE MADE IT HAPPEN.”
“How have things been for you since the split?
Things have been good, my squad is pretty tight knit, and we all have a certain amount of loyalty to each other, and it makes our team that much stronger and honestly, it's going to be a crazy journey with this group of people. Challenges that might lie ahead of you in your new role? Honestly, the biggest challenge I'm facing is recruiting, in my squad we are supper passionate about Recruiting for Quality Vs. Quantity. With that being said. We are working toward a split, but my team and I want to enjoy the ride together and want to really make an experience out of our new roles and just "smell the roses". Recruiting is always a challenge but it's a challenge we all know best. What are your goals for the squad going forward? "Simple, the goals for Empire going forward say it in the name. I'm going to build an empire, whether it's the most welcoming and interactive squad in KSI or we make it into one of those squads that EVERYONE wants to be part of. In the words of a famous Irishman, it's literally as simple as this. "We're not here to take part, we're here to TAKE OVER!"
