Article: Oathbound to Glitner Squad Split
Article
When it comes to a squad that works hard in Oathbound and Glitnir they earned every inch of their squad split. Ran by co- founder Astro Boy VH and Squad Leaders MrEpic and Big Jablo not only are these leaders hard working, but they have the best recruiting members in all of KSI in my opinion. Big Jablo can recruit a whole squad by himself and goes out of his way to train others when they need help and gives them constructive criticism on how to do something better and done the right way. From having 78 members in Glitnir to now having 91 members they are on their way to another squad split with the pace they keep going. Oathbound started with 49 they have declined a little to 43 but are still finding their grooves and what works for them as a squad, and they will make it and see their recruits not just any recruit but loyal and reliable recruit number increase over time. Patience is the key for them to succeed in my opinion. They do have Big Jablo who since the first of the year has brought in 56 recruits and is leading the whole clan of KSI for the month, so he has been a big big help but wears his dedication on his sleeves.
When I asked Astro what the road of splitting was like for him, He stated “the road to splitting the squad was hard but rewarding, when I got into the position of SL in Oathbound my main goal was to make sure people knew what to do and how to it without second guessing themselves and having the courage to know how when to use their knowledge!” This is very important to make sure you train your members and help them to better understand the procedures and guidelines being asked of them. Also up training your members makes it easier especially when recruiting and understanding on how to bring a new member in.
I then asked Astro how have things been since split? He answered “Things have been good, no matter how much an SL trains the SOs into being their own Squad leaders, the only true way to learn is to do. In the start it was a lot of them asking my opinion on ideas but as time went on, they learned their own way of handling situations without coming to me, which is the best accomplishments a COFO can have.” It’s always a great thing to have a reliable cofo like that to answer questions and not get annoyed or irritated by their members bothering them and look at it as asking questions of uncertainty and giving their perspective on different everyday tasks in the squad.
When I asked Astro what challenges lie ahead of him in his new role, he answered “Cofo has been a ride, but my aim is (as many others) to hit Div lead and have my own Div, every day as I learn and grow from my Div Lead it teaches me to do better and be better in every situation always leading by example.” Leading by example is such a key aspect when wanting to rebuild a squad and wanting to get everyone on the same page and understand the same procedures that are asked and utilized between cofo and squad. When I lastly asked Astro what he is expecting from the other two squads he stated, “As any COFO I’m looking to see my two squads to split and grow as they did under me when I was there squad leader.” That is a great answer and is every cofo’s dream to have their squad split cause it shows how hard the squad worked to earn that split and to earn the chance to expand KSI as a community and shows how passionate each member is when it comes to their squad and their squad mates. This also shows resilience and the drive to move to big and better things when every member is pushing one another, asking questions, learning recruitment, learning how to request roles, learning how to promote someone and how to show the big bosses upstairs that you deserve your role and are accomplishing the goals you have set forth for the future for the squad.
When talking to the squad leader of one of the squads in this split Big Jablo he took time out of his day to answer these questions cause we all want to hear what they have to say. When I asked him to discuss what the road to splitting was like for you, he stated “Was a hard road not too many members and the SL left then astro came in and got activity up and I got to recruiting new members, and the rest is history.” This is interesting cause having the urge to give up and quit and not want to rebuild a squad due to lack of activity and lack of involvement would definitely put someone down and out real fast, but not Jablo, he worked twice as hard and got recruits and helped rebuild this squad and got them the well-deserved squad split.
When I asked him how have things been for you since the split? He responded by stating “Things have been great, we have a great senior officer core and officer core. Everyone's friendly and chatty we are like a family always looking out and helping each other got a great number of members we all play games together any issues in real life we are all there for each other it's like a coffee shop everyone chatting like old people.” When having a squad it’s important to have everyone on the same page and follow the same procedures and work together as a unit instead of stepping on one another’s toes and causing a rift between officers and members, and while being on the same page bring fun and happiness to the squad and then others will get involved and then before you know it a squad split happens.
When I asked Big Jablo what challenges might lie ahead of him in his new role, he stated “COFO will be a great challenge, the biggest challenge will be to be active in many squad chats and not just having my original squad coming to me with problems but several having to spread myself between squads and game nights engaging with everyone.” This can definitely be a challenge cause taking the bull by its horns and doing a lot of work like hosting game nights, hosting meetings and interacting with members to get them active can be a stressor and a tiring thing to do so hats off to Jablo for taking time and doing this for the greater good of the squad.
Lastly, when I asked Jablo what are the goals for the squad going forward, he stated “to get them a healthy cadet core for when we split so we can pump up the squad with new officers when we split get everyone in the SO core 100 percent comfortable and teach the officer core CMS so when they become SO they can dive in right away.” This is a great idea to up train members and get them comfortable with CMS and with teaching them recruiting and how to bring recruits in and how to follow the steps is key to getting everyone on the same page in the end and brings success to the squad and division as a whole unit.
All in all, you can see how important this squad split was for these two gentlemen above and how you can see how hard work and drive earns you success as an end result even when you wanted to throw in the towel and give up, but they never gave up.
