In the past few years, the gaming industry has taken the entertainm ent world by storm. Conversati ons where you overhear your friends talking about the big summer blockbuste r at the theaters have been replaced by what store they plan to pick up this years Madden 07. New gaming consoles instantly become the Holiday’s hottest item, no matter what the price. Video games are being brought to the big screen and vice versa. It seems that every major motion picture needs to have a video game released alongside it. Video game tournament s have begun to be televised for the world to see. It truly is a growing industry that seems to have no end in site.

Wit h its constant growth, the gaming industry has had to go through many changes. The Entertainm ent Systems Rating Board, or ESRB, was created for the same reason the Motion Picture Associatio n of America was; to keep track of what producers and publishers were putting in their works. The ESRB rating system has become a valuable tool for parents who purchase games for their children. By reading the label, they can find out if that game is appropriat e or not. Violence in video games seems to be the only thing on parents minds right now, but they need to realize another revolution is about to take place in the gaming industry.
