My time in KSI started when I was at the ripe age of 18 years old. I was just like every other 18-year-old: bullheaded, too stubborn for my own good, and too emotional to make sense. I had just bought an Xbox 360 at my local game Xchange store and didn't know what awaited me in the online world of Black ops 2. It was at this point I met KSI Chicago 7. Chicago was much like myself. He was stubborn to the core, but a great leader. I didn't know the impact he would have in my life until 10 years later, when the same man who brought me into my first community would award me with one of its highest honors (which you'll learn about in a little while.)
The year was 2015. I started in a squad known as Death in the Dark Legions division of KSI.org. I took to it like a pig to mud, bringing in numerous recruits in a meteoric rise from private to general, even splitting Death as a 3rd Captain. (This was back when KSI used the military style ranking structure.) I can credit many people as mentors in that time frame. Angulkitty, diamond shark, and Chicago are just a few of the names that helped shape me during that period. Unfortunately due to my own emotions I was demoted. At the time I still felt like it was an unfair demotion and internal affairs saw it my way as well however the demotion stuck. I soon transferred to LW and then to EO (foreshadowing!) shortly before leaving the community altogether.
In 2016, I again joined KSI.org, this time in WI specifically recruited by Bubblez 7. She even bought me a copy of Advanced Warfare so I could play with everyone. This time was uneventful, but I do credit her for teaching me that kindness goes a long way in this world, a lesson that I still hold dear to this day.
Fast forward to 2019. I got a message from Babytree 7 while playing Call of Duty once again asking if I would like to join KSI but this time in Global. I was unsure of the difference between the two communities, but I decided to give it another try. Never did I realize the people that would cross my path would help shape me to the leader I am today. Babytree, New Blue, DiverDan, Bubba and many more provided mentorship and guidance once again on my way to Captain. There was still a barrier I couldn't break though, earning my 7.
Then comes December 2023. I got a message from Chicago 7, asking me to join once more. I was just getting ready to get married and swore I was done with communities. The final blow to my resolve that convinced me to join was him bringing up the one thing I had never earned: my 7. I knew right then I had to do everything in my power to finish my story in KSI.
I joined a squad called Leviathan, at the time in the Chaos Remnants division. Shortly after, CR split to form EO (recognize that?). Then, I started working.
In 7 days I worked my way up to SL. From there, it was off to the races. Thanks to the new policy regarding squads being open for 30 days before splitting, I will forever hold the record in this build of KSI for the fastest squad split at 20 days. I became a co-founder on January 26th, earning eligibility for the one thing that I have never earned.
Then comes February 8th. My second division meeting as a member of division staff. Chicago is the division leader at this point and is actively praising people in the division. Then I hear this:
“The amount of work I have seen this man put in since rejoining has been nothing short of spectacular. He is always focused on ways to better the community and it has been an honor to see him reach this milestone. Congratulations to KSI Hitman on earning your 7.”
It still makes this old soul tear up when thinking about it to this day. My story was complete. After everything I had went through in my community life, earning a 7 was the reward for it all. Demotions, betrayals and tribulations all led to this point of massive success for me.
As much as this was about my career however, this was about everybody along the way who taught me the most important lesson that I've ever learned in this life: you can either run from adversity or stare it in the face and let it mold you into who you're meant to become. Anything is possible both in communities and in life. Never give up and never give in to the hardships that this life gives you, and you too could see the dreams that you thought would never happen come true.
I leave you with this, after reading this very lengthy editorial: the souls you are impacting in this community will be massive, but how you are remembered after adversity will be your legacy. That, my friends, is how you will be forever remembered and is something that no one can ever take away. You can accomplish anything with willpower and hard work.
The creator of this editorial would like to personally thank:
Babytree 7
Chicago 7
New Blue 7
Diver Dan
Bubba 7
For their impacts on his life and reminding him that persistence is just as important as efficiency.
