What in this world of scientific and psychologi c acheivemen t can we attribute to the malfunctio ns of other human beings? That’s a pretty broad question, but let’s gets specific; can we link violence in video games directly to violence in the youth of America? This question has plagued the media over the past couple of month’s, with the senator of Tennessee, Thomas Kilby, even going as far as to bring about a bill that would ban the sale of “extremely violent” video games in his state, extremely violent being defined as “...a video game in which the range of options available to a player includes killing, maiming, dismemberi ng, or sexually assaulting an image of a human being,” by the bill. This pretty much targets all games that involve any kind of killing, First- Person Shooters being the first genre that comes to my mind, that eliminates the Halo series, Perfect Dark, any of the new war games, and any other games the come out involving a gun. But how far will this bill actually take it, if this bill is to pass, and who is to say they won’t eliminate video games all together, but even more so who can say what is violent enough?
