I once again find myself sitting here stewing after some random person on Halo 2 came into my party and disrespected me, so I thought I would finally put into writing exactly what disrespect is, and how members can avoid disrespecting other members, and leaders.

Webster Dictionary defines disrespect as the following: 1. An expression of lack of respect 2. A disrespectful mental attitude 3. A manner that is generally disrespectful and contemptuous. This means that your attitude, tone of voice, actions, and what you do or say can be disrespectful, not just your words.

In KSI, especially our division XD, the disrespect problem is dealt with harshly and quickly. We expect our members and leaders to play, and carry themselves as professionals at all times. You represent all of KSI every time you log on and play, what people see you do, or hear you say is how they judge the entire clan. It does not matter if you are playing a custom game, matchmaking with your friends, or just sitting in pre-game lobby talking, you are REQUIRED, and expected to be respectful to your fellow members, leaders, and subordinates at all times.

If you are talking with a leader, no matter if it is just talking about random things, squad business, or having a serious talk about problems with you or others, it is especially important to be respectful. There are ways to disagree with a leader without disrespecting them. First off, NEVER escalate a discussion into an argument. Secondly, if you have a problem with a leader discuss it with them in private, you should NEVER bring personal issues to a leader in front of anyone else. Third maintain a professional manner, do not raise your voice, curse, interrupt, or try to push your point in their face, as this will accomplish nothing. These are all matters of self-control, and the easiest way to get a leader very, very mad.

The same goes for leaders, be professional. Anyone in KSI for a long period will more than likely make it into a leadership position of some sort. You have to deal with the people you lead in the same manner as the people who lead you. You have to lead, give orders, and run your squad, but you still have to respect those below you. Knowing when its time to be a friend, and when its time to be the "boss" is one of the hardest things to learn. You have to know when its time to lay down the law, and when to ask nicely. You cannot demand respect without giving it, and being respectful to others will earn you more respect than anything else will. Being a good leader is about the example you set, and what your subordinates can learn from you and carry with them to make them better leaders. You are after all training the future leaders.

How you carry yourself in online game play is VERY important. You are the face of KSI, your division, your squad, and yourself. You do not have to stoop to talking trash, cursing, yelling, "t-bagging" or cheating to have fun, or play a good game. No matter what other players do, or say to you are better than these things, just play your best, have fun and help KSI continue to be the best.
