Taboo and Stigmas in The Gaming Community- Article Number 2: Taking a deep dive into mental health and addiction. (Teaser) By Anna Marie
Hey y'all, it's ya girl Anna Marie. I know it's been a minute since my first article, I'm sorry for keeping ya waiting so long. But taking care of your mental and physical health is very important. And that is what I was doing. But I'm better now. Now let us dive into some mental health!!
What is Mental Health?
We all struggle with some form of mental health. There is a difference between mental health and mental health issues. Most people don't know that. Google says “Mental health is a broad term that includes both positive and negative aspects, and can be defined as the ability to function well in daily life.” But I say Mental health is just how we all feel mentally from day to day. It can range from “I feel good today!” to “I feel a little blue today.” Mental health is the normal feeling every person on earth feels daily. Mental issues are when you struggle long-term with sadness/depression, worry/anxiety, anger, mood swings, and flashbacks. A whole array of emotions that are strong and last a long time.
I struggle with some of these, I have for years. Some people like myself have suffered really bad trauma that later on developed into mental disorders. Some have a baby and struggle with depression afterward. Anything could happen to us and it can lead to mental disorders, or you could be born with them.
That's it for this teaser, stay tuned for more. Don't forget to reach out to your friends and loved ones, you never know what someone is going through and your message just saying “Hey, I'm thinking about you. I hope you're well!” could be the only thing keeping them here one more day.
“There is no shame in seeking help for your mental health.”
And remember you are amazing! You are doing your best! I AM PROUD OF YOU! Keep doing your best! One day at a time! Just for today! You are wanted! Do not listen to anyone who is telling you otherwise! You are not alone!!
